Arsenal has sacked its manager, Unai Emery, on the back of a terrible run, and Freddie Ljungberg has taken temporary charge.
The club has confirmed the sacking of Emery after 18 months at the helm via a statement that says the decision has been taken due to results and performances not being at the required level.
Emery had taken over from the long-serving Arsene Wenger in May 2018 and led the Gunners to the Europa League final, where they lost to cross-city rival Chelsea. Arsenal went into this season having spent 130 million pounds for new signings; but after 13 weeks, it is sitting eighth in the English top-flight, without a win in its last 7 games in all competitions.
Former Arsenal midfielder Freddie Ljungberg has replaced Emery on a temporary basis.
