Taliban’s Mullah Baradar met with the Foreign Minister of Iran in Tehran

Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar, the deputy political chief and head of the political office of Taliban in Qatar met with Javad Zarif, the Foreign Minister of Iran.



Suhail Shaheen, a spokesman for the political office of Taliban in Qatar said in a Twitter post that Mullah Baradar leading a delegation of Taliban leaders met with Mr. Zarif in Tehran on Tuesday.

Shaheen further added that Mullah Baradar and Mr. Zarif had an in-depth discussion regarding peaceful resolution of the issue of Afghanistan.
He also added that the two sides also discussed the issues of the Afghan refugees based in Iran and Mr. Zarif vowed to resolve the issues of the Afghans living as refugees in Iran.
The visit by Taliban delegation to Tehran takes place amid ongoing efforts to revive peace talks.
Meanwhile, the United States has repeatedly accused Iran of supporting the militant groups in the Middle East and Afghanistan.
“Iran provides a range of financial, political, training and material support to groups which would include Hezbollah, Iraqi Shia militant groups, the Houthis in Yemen, some Palestinian groups, the Taliban and Bahraini Shia militants,” the Department of Defense said in a statement on 19th of November.
