Afghanistan says Baghdadi's death will reduce terror attacks in country

The killing of Islamic State's leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi was the biggest blow to the militant group, Afghan government has said.



Baghdadi, who had led the militant group since 2010, killed himself during a raid by US forces on his hideout in northwest Syria early on Sunday.
Calling Baghdadi one of the most dangerous terrorist leader, Afghanistan presidency in a statement said that his death was the biggest blow the militant group.
It said that Baghdadi’s death will not only reduce terror attacks in Afghanistan, but it will also have positive impact on the security of the region and the world.
The statement joint cooperation between countries in the fight against terrorism and such quick and timely actions were the only way to get rid of terrorism.
IS’s Afghan affiliate announced its formation in January 2015. The group has carried out some deadly attacks on civilian and military targets.
Last week, US commander of international forces in Afghanistan, General Scott Miller, said that the group was communicating with IS in Syria.
