A 10-day capacity building workshop for Afghan, Chinese and Pakistani young diplomats was started here on Monday in accordance with a decision made by the three countries to promote the peace process in Afghanistan.
Eight Chinese, six Afghan and 23 Pakistani young diplomats are participating in the workshop.
The participants are expected to be taken to different China-Pakistan Economic Corridor projects, North Waziristan in northwest Pakistan and also to Pak-Afghan border crossing point at Torkham.
The workshop is the outcome of the third round of China, Afghanistan, Pakistan foreign ministers' dialogue which was held last month in Islamabad.
Pakistani Foreign Secretary Sohail Mahmood told the inaugural ceremony that the trilateral dialogue is pivotal to advancing shared goal of peace and security, trade and economic development, as well as connectivity and prosperity in the region.
He said that people-to-people contacts among the three countries have been taking place and more interactions of their diplomats in the workshop will play a role in the political and diplomatic domain to enhance the mutual trust and understandings among the three sides.
Talking to media later, Mahmood said that the trilateral foreign ministers' dialogue has many dimensions and is part of the overall bigger picture to promote formal and informal interaction among the three countries in different domains.
