Sardar Mohammad, allegedly the Taliban’s shadow district governor for Kalakan district of Kabul province, has been arrested by special forces in Kabul city, the National Directorate of Security (NDS) said in a statement on Monday.
The operation was launched in Kabul city’s PD8. The NDS reported that “Shir Padshah, Malek and Hasibullah, who were involved in distraction activities such as firing rockets at Bagram Air Base and other terrorist activities, were also arrested.”
Sardar Mohammad was the shadow district governor for Mir Bacha Kot district of Kabul and “was called to Peshawar to receive orders for increased attacks,” according to the NDS statement, which added: “Then he was appointed the shadow district governor for Kalakan district and sent back to Kabul.”
The Taliban have not commented on the arrest.
