NATO will remain in Afghanistan and the country becomes fully stable, civilian representative of the alliance said on Sunday.
Nicholas Kay, NATO's seniorcivilian representativeinAfghanistan, said this while meeting with Afghan officials in central-eastern Ghazni province.
He assured that Afghan forces’ needs would be addressed.
Meanwhile, Ghazni Governor Wahidullah Kalimzai said that NATO had assured of providing support to Afghan forces until ensuring of permanent peace.
The comments come as US President Donald Trump said that he cancelled peace talks with Taliban, citing the group’s continued violence.
Under the deal, US would withdraw around 5,000 troops in coming months in exchange for Taliban’s security guarantees.
