Twelve civilians were killed in airstrikes in Afghanistan's northern Faryab province last night, provincial council's deputy said on Sunday.
Sibghatullah Selab said that the strikes on two homes in Garzewan district happened after the Taliban attempted to attack the district centre.
He said that the victims from two families included eight children of between 7 and 15 years of age and women.
Meanwhile, Afghan army’s 209th Shaheen Corps said on Sunday 47 Taliban militants were killed in air raid in Garzewan district. Five more militants were wounded, it said in a statement.
