The security forces conducted airstrikes in Uruzgan and Farah provinces killing at least 9 Taliban militants.
The military officials said Wednesday that airstrikes in Tarin Kot district of Uruzgan killed 5 Taliban militants.
The officials further added that similar airstrikes in Bala Boluk district of Farah killed 4 Taliban militants.
The Taliban militants have not commented regarding the operations so far.
This comes as the security situation in some districts of Uruzgan and Farah provinces has deteriorated during the recent months.
Taliban militants are active in some districts of the two provinces and often conduct terrorist related activities.
Meanwhile, the Afghan forces routinely conduct counter-terrorism operations against the anti-government armed groups in the two provinces.
The U.S. forces also conduct regular airstrikes in restive parts of the country to suppress Taliban and other anti-government militants.
