President Ashraf Ghani has reportedly banned foreign minister Salahuddin Rabbani from traveling to Doha to attend the Asian Cooperation Dialogue meeting held in the Persian Gulf state of Qatar.
AVA- A government source said Wednesday that Rabbani was scheduled to meet Qatari Emir, foreign minister and officials from other countries at the sideline of the meeting.
Shah Hussain Mortazawi, Ghani’s spokesman denied the report.
Analysts believe that the ban came after President Ghani canceled the second round of the intra-Afghan dialogue set to be held in mid-April in Doha, after Qatari officials rejected his list of 250 participants and offered him another list with fewer people.
The sixth round of negotiations between Taliban representatives and US envoy for Afghan peace, Zalmay Khalilzad began Wednesday in Doha.
