The U.S. Special Representative for Afghanistan Reconciliation Ambassador Zalmay Khalilzad has rejected reports that he is in Doha for the talks with Taliban group leaders.
This comes as certain media outlets have reported that the sixth round of talks between the U.S. envoy and Taliban political leaders has kicked off in Doha.
But Ambassador Khalilzad rejected the reports by issuing a short statement via official Twitter of the U.S. Special Representative for Afghanistan Reconciliation.
Ambassador Khalilzad said he met with Turkish President’s Chief Advisor Ibrahim Kalin in Washington on Monday and appreciated Turkey’s commitment to AFghanistan.
“Turkey’s willingness to support the Afghan Peace Process is welcome,” he added.
According to report, the sixth round of talks between the U.S. and Taliban representatives was due to kick off on 15th of April.
