Afghan government has asked Pakistan to allow flights from Afghanistan to pass its airspace to India.

Pakistan closed its airspace in February after India carried out airstrike, following a suicide bombing in India-controlled Kashmir that was claimed Pakistan-based militant group Jaish-e-Mohammad.
The closure has doubled flying time to India, which is currently happening through Iran, increasing fuel costs for airlines and fares for passengers.
Afghanistan’s call for re-opening of airspace came by Foreign Minister Salahuddin Rabbani in meeting with Pakistan Ambassador Zahid Nasrullah Khan.
Referring to Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan’s remarks suggesting interim government in Afghanistan, Rabbani said that such statements could negatively impact relations between the two countries.
He emphasized on mutual respect for national sovereignty and non-interference in internal affairs of each other and hoped for constructive ties between the two countries.
The sides discussed also peace process, consultative Loya Jirga and Qatar talks.
