The Afghan armed forces have stormed a key Taliban headquarters in northenr Faryab province of Afghanistan, the Afghan military said Sunday.
The 209th Shaheen Corps of the Afghan Military in the North said armed forces belonging to 5th Kandak of Commando Forces stormed a key Taliban headquarters in Qaramqol district on Saturday.
According to a statement released by 209th Shaheen Corps, the location of the headquarters was ascertained in close cooperation with the local resident and was destroyed during a special operation.
The statement further added that the Taliban militants had abandoned their headquarters before the arrival of commando forces.
Some communication devices and explosives were destroyed during the operation, the 209th Shaheen Corps added in its statement.
The anti-government armed militants including Taliban have not commented regarding the report so far.
