Khalilzad met with Sayyaf in Kabul

The U.S. Special Representative for Afghanistan Reconciliation on Monday met with Abdul Rab Rasool Sayyaf, a former prominent Mujahideen leader.
AVA- Sources close to Mr. Sayyaf said the two sides held talks regarding peace process.
The sources have not disclosed further information regarding the meeting but added that Mr. Sayyaf and Ambassador Khalilzad had indepth and fruitful negotiations regarding Afghan peace talks.
Ambassador Khalilzad had earlier met with the Chief of Staff of the Presidential Palace Salam Rahimi, senior presidential envoy for regional consensus on Afghan peace process Mohammad Daud Omarzai, and representatives of the government for reconciliation affairs.
“Glad to be back in #Kabul. I started my morning by meeting with #Afghan government representatives with responsibility for the #AfghanPeaceProcess, including the President’s Chief of Staff Rahimi & SE Daudzai. We discussed the urgency of making progress on intra-Afghan dialogue,” Ambassador Khalilzad said in a Twitter post this afternoon.
According to reports, Ambassador Khalilzad has also met with Chief Executive Abdullah Abdullah and Foreign Minister Salahuddin Rabbani.
