Impressed by various aspects of women’s life in Afghanistan, female Afghan artist Fatima Hussaini showcased her artworks at an exhibition in Kabul on Wednesday.
The artworks highlight some unseen aspects of life of women from different ethnicities, homages to the empowerment of women as vessels of love, healing, transformation and also their journey between traditionalism and modernism.
“The artworks are comprised of four categories which shows transformation from burqa or I must say that the interest which has inspired me in different eras. I started from burqa and highlighted modernism in front of the burqa of the Afghan women,” Hussaini added.
The 20 artworks also reflects those aspects of women’s life in Afghanistan which make stories abroad.
“They are amazing paintings. For instance, I noticed in some paintings which show the women wearing Burqa which is a tradition in Afghanistan and still continues,” said Humaira, a visitor.
“Majority of the paintings show part of the traditions in the country. Despite the gains we achieved in the past 18 years, these traditions still dominate the society,” said Shamsia Sharif, a visitor.
The exhibition was organized with the help of China’s Embassy in Kabul.
