The residents of Nad Ali district in southern Helmand province on Monday walked 20-kilometre to encourage the government and Taliban direct talks for peace and reconciliation.
AVA- The residents had walked 20 kilometers from their district to Lashkargah, the provincial capital this morning.
Sayed Jalal Agha, a participant of the walked rally, told media the purpose of lengthy walk was to encourage intra-Afghan dialogue.
He said, “We urge the Afghan government and Taliban to start peace negotiations in order to explore an end to the ongoing conflict.”
The people of Afghanistan had been suffering causalities in the both sides of war, thus the ongoing war should be stopped, he added.
Qudatratullah, another protestor said: “They themselves took the initiative of walk as people had been tired of war and want peace in the country.”
A number of other protestors expressed similar views and urged the Taliban and government to enter peace negotiations.
