After India warned Pakistan of ‘a strong response’ to a suicide attack in the disputed Kashmir valley, Tehran also accused Islamabad on Saturday of involvement in a suicide attack on the Revolutionary Guards.
AVA- The Wednesday bombing involving a suicide attacker killed at least 27 personnel of Iran’s elite guard and wounded more than 20 in Sistan-Balochistan province, the Iranian media reported.
The suicide attack in Chanali area targeted a bus carrying the Islamic Republic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC) personnel on the Khash-Zahedan road.
In remarks aired on the state TV Saturday, Revolutionary Commander Major General Mohammad Ali Jafari said: “Pakistan’s government, who has housed these anti-revolutionaries and threats to Islam, knows where they are and they are supported by Pakistan’s security forces,” as he referred to militant group Jaish al-Adl (“Army of Justice”).
“If (the Pakistan government) does not punish them, we will retaliate against this anti-revolutionary force, and whatever Pakistan sees will be the consequence of its support for them,” he warned.
The general made the remarks in Isfahan City on Friday evening during a farewell ceremony held for those killed. Funerals are expected to follow on Saturday.
On the other hand, after Thursday’s car suicide attack killed 40 paramilitary forces in the Indian-administered Kashmir, India said it had “incontrovertible evidence” of Pakistani involvement, a statement quickly rejected by Islamabad.
The Pakistan-based Islamist group Jaish-e-Mohammad has claimed responsibility for the attack, the deadliest since the insurgency against Indian rule began in 1989.
“We will give a befitting reply, our neighbor will not be allowed to destabilize us,” Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi said in a speech, after meeting security advisers to discuss options.
