Eight Afghan Local Police (ALP) personnel have been killed and four others, including the Sayyad district police chief, wounded in Taliban attacks in northern Sar-i-Pul province, an official said on Sunday.
Mohammad Noor Rahmani, the provincial council chairman, told Pajhwok Afghan News the militants attacked two security check-posts in Sayyad district late on Saturday night.
Eight ALP men were killed and district police chief Abdul Baseer Sayyadi wounded in the overnight assault, he said, adding the rebels seized ammunition and a pick-up vehicle.
The provincial police headquarters did not comment on the incident, but a source, wishing anonymity, confirmed Rahmani’s version. There has been no word from Taliban yet.
