Afghan special forces have freed 38 people who were abducted by the Taliban in central-eastern Ghazni province, officials said Monday.
The rescue happened during a raid on a Taliban prison last night in the area between Spin Klay and Ghat Klay villages in Ab Band district, the provincial governor’s office said in a statement. Those freed included also senior security personnel.
Ten insurgents were also killed in the operation while nine more were detained, the statement said. A depot of ammunition and explosives, an explosive-packed vehicle and four motorcycles were destroyed, it said.
No member of Afghan special forces were hurt in the raid, the statement said.
