U.S. envoy for Afghan peace met with the Prime Minister of Pakistan

The U.S. Special Representative for Afghanistan Reconciliation Ambassador Zalmay Khalilzad met with the Prime Minister of Pakistan of Pakistan during his trip to Islamabad.
According to reports, the two sides held talks regarding the existing regional situation and ongoing efforts regarding Afghan reconciliation.
Khan has reportedly reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to facilitate the peace process in Afghanistan.
Ambassador Khalilzad had earlier met with the Foreign Minister of Pakistan Shah Mehmood Qureshi to discuss Pakistan’s role in reconciliation efforts in Afghanistan.
In a Twitter post following his meeting with Qureshi, the U.S. envoy had said that he had good meeting the Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi.
Ambassador Khalilzad further added that the important role of the regional countires like Pakistan in helping deliver peace and reconciliation was discussed and he was assured of Pakistan’s support.
He also added that he looks forward to concrete progress.
Ambassador Khalilzad arrived in Islamabad on Thursday after concluding a visit to Kabul were he met with the Afghan officials to brief them regarding his recent trips to the region.
