Kabul, Tehran stress over joint fight against terrorism

National Security Advisors (NSAs) of Afghanistan and Iran have stressed over joint fight against terrorism, a statement from the National Security Council (NSC) said on Wednesday.


AVA- NSA Hamdullah Mohib held a meeting with his Iranian counterpart Ali Shamkhani on Wednesday morning at his office, the statement said.
Both sides have discussed various issues ranging from peace process to security and joint fight against terrorism. Mohib and Shamkhani exchanged views on expanding bilateral relationship and cooperation.
Referring to peace and stability, Mohib said the people of Afghanistan desired honourable and lasting peace owned and led by the Afghan government.
He stressed countries involved in Afghan peace process need to sincerely cooperate in achieving lasting peace in Afghanistan.
Mohib said terrorism was threatening the region and it could spill from one country to another.
He stressed Daesh was defeated in Afghanistan and Afghan security forces with increasing capability were able to defend its territory.
The Iranian NSA hailed the achievements of Afghan government in different areas and assured his country’s continued support.
