11 security personnel dead across two Afghan provinces

At least 11 police and Afghan national army officers have been killed in fresh Taliban attacks, officials said Wednesday.


AVA- At least six soldiers were killed after the Taliban struck a military checkpoint in Jurm district of far north-eastern Badakhshan province, local council member Naji Nazari said.
The overnight clashes also wounded six others, he added.
The Taliban have maintain an active presence in vast areas of the province located near Tajikistan.
Meanwhile, five police were killed when Taliban militants stormed a checkpoint in Ghoriyan district of western Herat province, an official said.
Four others were wounded and three police officers were taken hostage, provincial council member Sardar Bahaduri said.
On Tuesday, At least 31 people were killed - the majority of them members of the country's security forces - in insurgent attacks across Kabul, Kunduz and Kandahar provinces.
A day earlier, at least 32 members of the forces were killed in several Taliban attacks across the country.
Taliban militants have ramped up their attacks on Afghan security forces and government facilities in recent months, leaving troops thinly stretched throughout the country.
