A Wolesi Jirga runner from northeastern Badakhshan province has survived a gun attack that left three policemen injured, an official said on Monday.
Police spokesman Sanaullah Rohani told Pajhwok Afghan News the incident took place in the Juram district of the province late on Sunday night.
He said Zalmay Mujaddedi came under attack from unidentified gunmen on the way to his campaign office in Changha village. The candidate escaped unhurt but three policemen were wounded.
Police have launched an investigation, but no one has been arrested so far in connection with the attack. There was no immediate claim of responsibility.
