President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani met with the U.S. Special Adviser for Afghanistan Zalmay Khalilzad in Kabul on Sunday to discuss the prospects for Afghan peace.
The Office of the President, ARG Palace, in a statement said the two sides discussed the prospects for an Afghan-led reconciliation process.
President Ghani said spoke regarding the efforts of the Afghan government regarding the peace process and maintaining stability in the country, ARG Palace said.
In his turn, Mr. Khalilzad shared information with President Ghani regarding his trips to the regional countries and reaffirmed the U.S. government and nation’s support to the Afghan government and Afghan nation regarding the reconciliation process.
According to ARG Palace, the Second Vice President Sarwar Danish, Chief Executive Abdullah Abdullah, and some other high level government officials had also participated in the meeting.
