The Afghanistan National Cricket Team won the Twenty20 International (T20I) series 2-0 after the third and final match of the series was abandoned without a ball being bowled due to rain.
“The third T20I between Afghanistan and Ireland was abandoned due to wet outfield and persistent rain. As a result, Afghanistan won the series 2-0,” the Afghanistan Cricket Board said in a statement.
The statement further added “Explosive young batsman Hazratullah Zazai, who scored 74 and 82 runs in the two T20Is respectively, was declared the player of the series.”
Zazai scored 74 runs during the first match of the series and 82 runs during the second match to remain the top scorer of the series.
The Afghanistan National Cricket Team had defeated Ireland by 16 runs during the opening game of the series.
The Afghan team won the second match by defeating Ireland by 79 runs on Thursday.
The bilateral One Day International (ODI) series will kick off between the two teams from coming Monday in Belfast.
