A senior Afghan National Army (ANA) Commander lost his life amid ongoing heavy clashes in the southern and eastern parts of the country.
The 203rd Thunder Corps of the Afghan Military in the Southeast said the commander of the Intelligence Kandak of the Thunder Corps Gen. Mohamamd Yaseen Aryan has embraced martyrdom.
The Thunder Corps did not disclose further information regarding the circumstance surrounding the death of Gen. Aryan.
This comes as heavy clashes are underway in certain provinces in the South and East of the country.
The 203rd Thunder Corps said Monday that the Afghan armed forces conducted air and artillery strikes on Zewalat, Tapa Tesha, Warsak, Kharoti, Mashqo village, and Haji Nemat areas in the central parts of the province.
The source further added that at least 27 militants were killed and at least 22 others sustained injuries during the operations.
A Taliban commander identified as Mullah Shafiqullah was among those killed while another Taliban commander Qari Zarif was wounded, the Thunder Corps added.
The statement released by Thunder Corps stated that the air and artillery strikes also resulted into the elimination of several weapons and munitions including a Dshk heavy machine.
