At least 18 Afghan forces were martyred after Taliban carried out night attacks in central-eastern Ghazni province, officials said Wednesday.
AVA- The attacks targeted police headquarters in Jaghatu district and checkpoints in Zanakhan district.
Nasir Ahmad Faqiri, a member of provincial council, said that the coordinated attack on police HQ of Jaghatu district was launched around 1:00a.m., seizing it for several hours.
He said that six Afghan forces lost their lives in the clashes. A tank, a pickup vehicle and weapons were seized by the Taliban, he said.
Simultaneously, insurgents attacked three checkpoints in Zanakhan district, killing 12 Afghan forces and wounding four others, said Mohammad Zia Yaqubi, the district governor.
He said that seven Taliban militants were killed while dozens more wounded in the counterattack.
