Afghan Voice Agency(AVA) , 30 Apr 2018 - 16:10
The DAESH issued a statement in Arabic claiming that the attack was carried out on a compound of the Afghan intelligence in the city.
The group went on to claim that the attack has left at least 50 operatives of the Afghan intelligence dead or wounded.
However, the Afghan security officials are saying that 25 people were killed and 45 others were wounded including several civilians and reporters.
The attack was carried out at around 8 am local time after a suicide bomber detonated his explosives in Shash Darak area while another bomber detonated a camera packed with explosives as the reporters and several other people had gathered in the scene of the first blast.
The Taliban group has so far not commented regarding the attack although the group announced the start of its spring offensive last week.
In the meantime, the attack in Kabul has attracted widespread condemnation in Afghanistan as well as on international level.
The top US commander in Afghanistan and the commander of the NATO-led Resolute Support Mission General John Nicholson in reaction to the deadly Kabul attack has said that the enemies of Afghanistan cannot win.
In a statement released in the aftermath of the attack, Gen. Nicholson said “We condemn in the strongest terms possible the cowardly attacks in Kabul today by two suicide bombers that killed and injured Afghan forces and innocent Afghan citizens, including Afghan journalists.”
Gen. Nicholson further added that “We offer our sincere condolences to the families of those killed and wounded, and we sand with our Afghan partners in defeating those who would threaten the peopel of this country, whose cries for peace are being ignored.”
The NATO commander also added that “Make no mistake, the enemies of Afghanistan cannot win. Actions like this only strengthen or steadfast commitment to the people of Afghanistan.”
