Afghan Commandos and Air Forces respond to Taliban attack in Kunduz

The Afghan Special Forces and Air Force intervened as the Taliban group attempted to seize the control of Qalai Zal district in northern Kunduz province of Afghanistan.
The 209th Shaheen Corps of the Afghan Military in the North said the Taliban insurgents launched a coordinated attack on Aaq Tapa Bazaar at around 5 am this morning which resulted into the fall of the Bazaar into the hands of the militants.
The source further added that the Special Forces of the Afghan Military immediately intervened and pushed back the Taliban with the support of the Afghan Air Force.
According to Shaheen Corps, at least 9 militants were killed and 4 others were wounded during the clashes wiht the security forces.
The Afghan Special Forces and other security personnel did not suffer any casualty during the operation, the Shaheen Corps added.
In the meantime, the Shaheen Corps added that the Afghan Air Force has carried out airstrikes on three positions of the Taliban in Qalai Zal but there are no reports available regarding the casualties of the militants.
The anti-government armed militant groups including Taliban militants have not commented regaarding the report so far.
This comes as the group has been attempting to carry out large scale attacks in key provinces and parts of the country after they announced their spring offensive on Wednesday.
