A heroin lab was destroyed and an insurgent was killed during the latest operations of the Afghan security forces to counter the growing drugs production in the country.
AVA- The Ministry of Defense said the Afghan national defense and security forces conducted an operation in the vicinity of Nad-e-Ali district to suppress the activities of the anti-government armed militant groups.
According to the defense ministry, a heroin lab was destroyed and an insurgent was killed during the operation.
The anti-government armed militant groups including the Taliban insurgents have not commented regarding the report so far.
This comes as at least three heroin labs were destroyed during a similar operation conducted in Kajaki district nearly two months ago.
According to the local officials, the operations in Kajaki were conducted with the help of the close-air support and as a result three insurgents were killed and two others were wounded.
The operations against the drug and heroin labs have been ongoing in the restive provinces as efforts are underway to cut the financial resources of the militant groups.
The commander of the US forces for Afghanistan Gen. Nicholson had earlier vowed a relentless fight to curb the financial resources of the militant groups which are mainly gained through illicit production and smuggle of drugs and opium in the restive provinces.
