Using laser weapons, Taliban militants killed five police personnel and injured a sixth in Panjwai district of southern Kandahar province last night, an official said on Tuesday.
AVA- The security official, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, told Pajhwok Afghan News the dead included three national police and two Afghan local police (ALP) personnel. The police were attacked around Tlokan and Moshan localities
Qari Yousuf Ahmadi, a Taliban spokesman, confirmed the attack that he said left nine police dead, with the fighters confiscating their vehicle and weapons. He said only one fighter suffered wounds in the incident.
Provincial security officials have so far said nothing about the incident that comes a lull in attacks in Panjwai district.
