Jamiat-e-Islami party says no official including President Ashraf Ghani or Chief Executive Abdullah Abdullah could remove Atta Mohammad Noor, as a northern provincial governor.
AVA- On Friday, a delegation led by Salahuddin Rabbani, the Head of Jamiat party and Acting Foreign Minister, has visited Balkh province, to hold talks with Governor Noor amid reports which suggest President Ghani has dismissed Atta Noor.
However, speaking to Ariana News on Saturday, Abdul Hafiz Mansor, a senior member of Jamiat-e-Islami party said: ” “No official including the president and the Chief Executive could oust Atta Mohammad Noor,”
“Atta himself has not taken any decision yet to step down from his position,” he noted.
The senior member of the party also warned that if government forces Atta Noor to resign, his party is ready to use “any possible option” against the government.
Fazal Ahmad Manawi, a close figure to Abdullah, meanwhile, said that the Chief Executive wants to ease the rift between Noor and Ghani.
“Pressure mounts on Atta to step down but so far neither the president has been able to oust him nor Noor himself is ready to resign and the Chief Executive wants to compromise between these two,” Manawi said.
This comes as, earlier this year, Atta Mohammad Noor had engaged in negotiations with Ghani to take new role in the government and leave his post to “young faces”; however, the talks proved unsuccessful later as the government leaders apparently have rejected his demands of having a share in some of the leading state positions.
