President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani arrived to northwestern Badghis province in an unannounced visit to review the security and inaugurate a key ring road project in this province.
AVA- The Office of the President, ARG Palace, said President Ghani arrived to Qala-e-Naw, the provincial capital of Badghis province this morning.
A statement by ARG Palace said President Ghani is expected to meet the local security officials to review the security situation..
The statement further added that President Ghani will also have separate meetings with the heads of the civilian government institutions as well as the local tribal elders.
According to ARG Palace, President Ghani will also inauguate the Qaisar-Laman ring road project which includes the construction of the Phase 1 and 2.
The contract for the Phases 1 and 2 of Qaisar-Laman ring road project was approved during a meeting of the national procurement commission chaired by President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani nearly three months ago.
The project is considered as a vital mean for paving the way for regional connectivity with the Asian Development Bank funding the construction of the road which will be implemented by the ministry of public works of Afghanistan.
An Indian firm has been appointed as the subcontractor for the Phase-I while a Chinese firm will perform the work for the Phase-II of the project.
The project is estimated to be completed over a period of two and half years.
