Afghan Voice Agency(AVA) , 7 Dec 2017 - 14:32

The Afghan government reacted at the recent decision of President Donald Trump regarding the recognition of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel, saying it is deeply concerned regarding the move and can understand the concerns of the Afghan people and the Muslims of the world.

AVA- A statement issued by ARG Palace stated that the decision has hurt the feelings of the Muslims of the world which could endanger the peace process in the Middle East.

The statement further added that any unilateral move without the involvement of the Palestine will not yield any positive result.

ARG Palace said the unity government and the Afghan nation in solidarity with the other Muslims of the world support the legitimate demands of the Palestine people for a sovereign nation, insisting that the decision regarding Jerusalem should be taken in consideration with the sensitivity of the Muslims and other religions to which the place is considered as sacred and in line with the international laws.

The US President Donald Trump on Wednesday formally recognized Jerusalem as the capital city of Israel instructing the Department of State to shift the US embassy from Tel Aviv.

“Today we finally acknowledge the obvious: that Jerusalem is Israel’s capital,” he said.

Trump further added that Washington still supports a two-state solution to the longstanding Israeli-Palestinian conflict, if approved by both sides.

The United Nations and European Union have expressed concerns regarding the President Trump’s decision with eight of the fifteen members of the United Nations Security Council calling an urgent meeting on the US decision by the end of the week.

Some of the close allies of the United States including France and United Kingdom have also concerns regarding the decision of President.
