Afghan police rescued a 11-year-old boy who was kidnapped in Kabul nearly two weeks ago, officials said Sunday.
AVA- Mohammad Essa, was abducted by kidnappers from Police District 11 of the city on October 9.
He was recovered from Kote Sangi area, Police District 5, in a police raid around 9:00p.m., the Interior Ministry said in a statement.
The boy reunited with his family in the presence of acting interior minister, Wais Ahmad Barmak.
Eight people were arrested in connection with the kidnapping, the statement said without providing further details on motive behind the abduction.
Kidnapping is a major problem in Afghanistan, with most cases involving ransom.
