Denmark said on Monday it will send an additional 55 soldiers to Afghanistan to boost security efforts.
AVA- With the deployment, the number of Danish forces in Afghanistan will increase from 97 to 152.
The announcement by Denmark’s Defense Ministry comes over a week after its soldiers’ convoy was targeted in a car bombing in Kabul.
“If the Afghan government loses control, Afghanistan will once again become a haven for terrorist groups and we risk another wave of refugees to Europe and Denmark,” Denmark’s Foreign Minister Anders Samuelson said in a statement.
The incoming Danish soldiers will be stationed in Kabul at the beginning of 2018.
