The Kabul municipality on Tuesday unveiled new developments regarding the metro bus service project with the officials saying the project is expected to concluded within the next one and half years.
AVA- Kabul mayor Abdullah Habibzai said the metro bus service or Bus Rapid Transit is mostly used in different countries across the globe and the project is being implemented in Kabul to provide facilities to the residents of the city amid growing traffic.
Habibzai further added that the first phase of the project will cover ۸ kilometers route between Deh Afghanan area and Sara-e-Shamali.
He said work on detailed design of the project is still in progress and the work is expected to finish in the next calendar year.
According to Habibzai, the second phase of the project will start from Baraki and will cover Kote Sangi and Deh Mazang to connect with Deh Afghanan area.
He said the first and second phases have been designed and work will start first considering the importance of the areas, mainly being the commercial sites.
The Kabul mayor also added that around ۱۱۱ kilometers of the city will be covered with metro bus service in the next phases which will include Dar-ul-Aman, Karte-e-Naw, and Dasht-e-Barchi in the west
