he Unites States Forces in Afghanistan on Saturday confirmed the casualties of Afghan border police during overnight operations in southern Helmand province.
According to sources at least eight Afghan border police were killed and 16 more were injured in Friday night’s airstrike in Nad Ali district of Helmand province.
“We can confirm personnel from the Afghan National Defense and Security Forces were killed and wounded during overnight operations in Helmand Province,” USFOR-A Public Affairs Office said in a statement.
“We would like to express our deepest condolences to the families of the ABP members affected by this unfortunate incident,” the statement said.
The statement further said that during the fires of Afghan and U.S. forces partnered operation resulted in the deaths and injuries to members of the Afghan border police.
“An investigation is being conducted at this time to determine the specific circumstances that led to this incident,” the statement added.
