Hizb-i-Islami leader Gulbuddin Hekmatyar on Thursday arrived in Kabul in his first visit to the city in more than 20 years.
Afghan Voice Agency(AVA),His supporters were seen welcoming the figure on the streets of Kabul as his convoy entered the city from eastern Jalalabad city.
Hekmatyar is expected to meet with President Ashraf Ghani and the president’s acting spokesman said that Ghani will deliver speech during the ceremony which would be aired live at 2:30 p.m. on national TV channel.
Hekmatyar, who fought the Afghan government and foreign forces after toppling of the Taliban in 2001, inked a peace agreement with the government in September last year.
He made his first public appearance last Saturday in eastern Laghman province, where he called on the Taliban to join peace process.
He is expected to deliver a speech to his supporters in Ghazi Stadium of Kabul
