Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - Kabul: In an interview with AVA, university professor Ali Madad Fahimi said: “Al-Aqsa Storm brought strategic achievements and opportunities, including breaking or weakening the illusion of Israel’s absolute security. One of the important goals of this operation was to challenge Israel’s claim of “maintaining security and complete dominance.” If the enemy can operate deep inside the Gaza Strip and its surroundings without facing serious damage, some of the existing deterrence and fear will be shaken. This operation showed that the resistance’s ability can challenge parts of the “Israeli security structure.”
Stating that the Al-Aqsa Storm raised the morale and legitimacy of the resistance among the Palestinians, he added: “In the performance of the resistance after this operation, a significant increase in public support for Hamas was reported both in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, and this could lead to strengthening internal cohesion among the Palestinians. This indicates that the people prefer the path of resistance to other options and their will to continue the struggle has not weakened.”
Creating psychological and propaganda balance
Mr. Fahimi believes that “the Al-Aqsa Storm operation prevented the global media from summarizing the situation simply as a “terrorist attack by the resistance on a neighboring country,” but rather created a kind of reflection in world public opinion. The resistance becoming a media subject with the message of “mobility”, “dynamism” and “ability to act” against a powerful regime is a great advantage in terms of propaganda.”
According to the university professor, “One of the results of this type of mobilization is the more active resistance groups in the region (Lebanon, Yemen, Iraq, Syria) and greater interaction between them. After the Al-Aqsa Storm, regional resistance groups in Lebanon, Yemen and Iraq have taken positions in support of Palestine and have carried out symbolic operations against Israeli positions or common interests. Therefore, this could lead to a more united regional front that is more powerful than the sum of its members.”
Imposing an economic, military and political cost on Israel
Mr. Fahimi also noted that “after the Al-Aqsa Storm, Israel has been forced to spend more resources on defense and reconstruction, pay military and equipment losses, and in the field of domestic politics, it has also been under pressure from domestic and international public opinion.”
Redefining regional deterrence and strategic equations is another consequence of Operation Storm Al-Aqsa, which Fahimi pointed out, saying: “After Storm Al-Aqsa, deterrence took on a new meaning; not simply preventing an enemy attack, but the operational capacity of the resistance to strike the enemy even in its depths is an important deterrent factor. This will change the attitude of the countries in the region towards the equations of threat and defense.”
US support for Israel and its negative consequences for this country and the global order
Mr. Fahimi identified the intensification of hostility and further popular resistance as one of the main consequences of US support for Israel, saying: “US’s open support for Israel will cause a part of the people in the region and the Islamic world to strongly oppose the US and Israel.”
In his opinion, “Unlimited influence and interference in the internal affairs of the countries in the region and the political occupation and indebtedness of the countries to the US are other consequences of this country’s support for Israeli crimes.” He added: “The US generally intervenes in countries through a policy of pressure, covert coups, support for factions and groups, and intelligence tools. These interventions often lead to insecurity, instability, internal rebellions, and the weakening of legitimate state structures.”
He noted that “countries in the region that depend on American aid and credibility for their security or weapons may be forced to adjust their domestic and foreign policies in accordance with American wishes. This undermines political independence.”
Creating a united front against the US, eroding its international credibility, denying moral legitimacy, ignoring more serious threats, and reflecting negatively on domestic US public opinion are other consequences of Washington’s support for Israel. “Widespread interventions and unilateral support for Israel can lead to the formation of anti-US fronts in the region, but these fronts also carry the risk of increasing public confrontation, reciprocal economic sanctions, and proxy wars,” Fahimi said.
According to Mr. Fahimi's analysis, "Supporting military actions that many say result in the killing of civilians has reduced America's moral credibility in the eyes of public opinion in Muslim and non-Muslim countries. The resistance takes advantage of this and accuses America of injustice and human rights violations. In addition, high military and political spending in the region can cause fatigue in American public opinion, domestic protests, and politicians' reconsideration, and ultimately increase pressure on governments that seek interventions."
Trump's personal interference in the affairs of countries and its negative effects
Fahimi continued his speech by referring to Trump's selfish policies, saying: "Trump emphasized the priority of American interests in his slogan "America First," but in practice he had extensive interventions in the Middle East region. One of the criticisms is that these interventions are motivated by electoral, economic, or showing power.
Emphasizing that Trump’s clumsy policies encouraged Israel to take more aggressive actions, he added: “Some reports and analyses say that Trump, by providing decisive political and military support to Israel, has emboldened it to take more aggressive actions, including airstrikes, settlement expansion, and military pressure.”
Turning the region into a competition arena between the United States and its enemies is another devastating consequence of Trump’s policies, which Fahimi pointed out, saying: “In some cases, Trump has turned the Middle East region into part of a global competition with Iran, Russia, or China. This has led to continued crises in the region and turned it into a stage for a larger power game, not just the Palestine-Israel conflict.”
Lack of strategic coherence and contradictions in policies
The international relations expert also stated: “Trump’s interventions were mainly based on slogans and short-term interactions, and sometimes had policies without continuity or without regional support. This causes the long-term effectiveness to decrease and allows enemies to exploit the contradictions.”
In addition, deep interventions bring financial, human, political and international costs to the United States. These interventions cause a decline in American legitimacy, general fatigue in American society, and ultimately a return of force and pressure to withdraw.
Fahimi emphasized: “When military interventions and their costs become excessive for American public opinion, domestic pressure on the government increases and American policies in the region may suffer aftershocks.”
Summary and Strategic Outlook: The Al-Aqsa Storm revealed the power of resistance to the world, challenged Israel's claim of absolute security, strengthened the legitimacy of resistance among the Palestinian people and the region, and transformed the psychological, military, and political equations of the Middle East.
