Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - Kabul: Following the statements of US President Donald Trump and the spread of rumors by foreign media about the reoccupation of the Bagram military base, Hojatoleslam Wal-Muslimin Sayed Hashim Javadi Balkhabi, in a special interview with AVA in Kabul today (Monday, 6 October), called the propaganda and rumors related to the Bagram base deal completely baseless and emphasized that the West seeks to distort the thoughts of society by creating such propaganda.
Political affairs expert Hojatoleslam Wal-Muslimin Sayed Hashim Javadi Balkhabi believes that Washington and its Western allies have now started an intellectual and psychological war against independent countries such as Afghanistan and opponents of global arrogance.
According to him, when the United States was defeated on the military battlefields and was forced to retreat, it took its next step in the form of a media and propaganda war to influence the public opinion of the nations in this way.
The political affairs expert also emphasized that psychological war is no less effective than physical war; Because instead of physical harm, it targets people’s thoughts and ideas and tries to make nations waver and surrender from within.
In the following, Hojjatoleslam Walmuslimin Balkhabi added that today, cyberspace and social networks have become the main battlefield of intellectual warfare, in which NATO and the US are seeking to dominate world public opinion by launching targeted propaganda.
The head of the High Commission for the Resolution of Nomad and Village Conflicts clarified that rumors that American forces have returned to Bagram base are not true and eyewitnesses have described the situation in this area as calm. He also emphasized that this base is still under the full control of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan.
In his opinion, the spread of such rumors is part of the West’s psychological warfare, which is aimed at creating despair and doubt among the Afghan people and strengthening the morale of US supporters.
Hojjatoleslam Walmuslimin Sayyed Hashim Javadi Balkhabi stated that the Islamic Emirate authorities have repeatedly emphasized that they will not accept any foreign military presence on Afghan soil. According to him, Defense Minister Mullah Yaqub has said in this regard that the Americans demanded the retake of some bases, including Bagram, during the Doha talks, but the Islamic Emirate delegation has firmly rejected this request.
This political activist noted that the Islamic Emirate authorities have announced that despite opposing the US military presence, they are willing to expand bilateral economic and political relations with Washington.
Finally, he emphasized that confronting the enemy’s psychological warfare requires the awakening, awareness, and cooperation of the media and the people in order to prevent the deviation of public opinion and preserve the intellectual independence of society.
