Coordinated suicide attacks foiled in capital Kabul

NDS in its statement also added that Afghan intelligence operatives seized 4 suicide bombing vests, 6 AK-47 rifles, 4 grenade launchers, 7 pistols, 20 remote controls which were to be used for explosions, 5 GT-9 bombs, 9 magnetic bombs, 26 hand grenades, 22 explosive cylinders and various other explosives.

The Afghan intelligence – National Directorate Security (NDS) announced Tuesday that coordinated suicide attacks plotted by Haqqani Network was foiled in capital Kabul. 

NDS following a statement said, the attacks were plotted to target the Afghan election campaigns in Kabul city. 

The statement further added two Haqqani Network suicide attack organizers were arrested by Afghan intelligence operative in Kabul city before they manage to carry out attacks. 

NDS in its statement also added that Afghan intelligence operatives seized 4 suicide bombing vests, 6 AK-47 rifles, 4 grenade launchers, 7 pistols, 20 remote controls which were to be used for explosions, 5 GT-9 bombs, 9 magnetic bombs, 26 hand grenades, 22 explosive cylinders and various other explosives. 

The explosives and weapons were stored in a residential house in Chahar Asiab district of Kabul province, NDS said in its statement, adding that Afghan intelligence operatives also seized two vehicles used by the suicide attack organizers. 

According to NDS officials, the detained militants have confessed that they were assigned by Haqqani Network to carry out attacks. 

The officials also added that the explosives and weapons and were transported by Haqqani Network from North Waziristan to Chahar Asiab district . 

Anti-government armed militant groups have not commented regarding the report so far.
