Kyrgyz Minister of Foreign Affairs invites representatives of UN countr

Abdyldaev also offered to adopt a resolution on sustainable development in mountain areas.

Foreign Minister of Kyrgyzstan Erlan Abdyldaev invited representatives of the United Nations countries to participate in the conferences on Afghanistan and the conservation of snow leopards during the 68th session of the UN General Assembly on September 28, the press service of the MFA Kyrgyzstan reported.

In his speech, the Minister stressed the importance of achieving the Millennium Development Goals on time, the necessity of formulation of post-2015 global agenda for sustainable development, examination of hydropower issues in the region through the prism of “green economy.”

Abdyldaev also offered to adopt a resolution on sustainable development in mountain areas. Due to the growing urgency to protect wild animals, he also invited the representatives of the UN countries to take part in the Global Forum on Conservation of Snow Leopards in Bishkek this October.

The Minister said that Kyrgyzstan has performed its counter-terrorism mission on Afghanistan, hosting the Transit Center at Manas for 12 years.

He highlighted the importance of building sustainable economy in Afghanistan and engaging the country into the regional socio-economic cooperation. In this regard, the Minister invited the UN country members to participate in the international scientific-practical conference on Afghanistan, which will be held in Bishkek on October 10.
