Azerbaijan to be one of eight countries to participate in new NATO mission in Afghanistan

The spokesman mentioned that according to the decision of NATO summit, a new post-2014 mission will be set after ISAF mission leaves Afghanistan.

Azerbaijan will participate in NATO’s post-2014 mission in Afghanistan, spokesman for Azerbaijan’s Foreign Ministry Elman Abdullayev, who is paying a visit to Turkey, APA reports.

He said Azerbaijan plays an important role in the peacekeeping operations in Afghanistan and ISAF withdrawal from Afghanistan by 2014.

According to Elman Abdullayev, Azerbaijan is pursuing efficient humanitarian policy in the recovery of Afghanistan, a number of measures are being taken, Afghanistan’s territory has been cleared off mines with the participation of ANAMA.

The spokesman mentioned that according to the decision of NATO summit, a new post-2014 mission will be set after ISAF mission leaves Afghanistan.

“Azerbaijan is one of the eight states to participate in this mission. The objective of the mission is to work with the citizens for the restoration of peace and stability in Afghanistan,” he said.
