MG James Richardson Assumes Command of US National Support Element Command Afghanistan

The future is bright for this country and we are just here to help them.

Maj. Gen. James M. Richardson became the new Deputy Commanding General-Joint Operational Corps Headquarters-Afghanistan in a May 28 ceremony at the New Kabul Compound. Richardson, who replaces Maj. Gen. Kenneth R. Dahl, also became Commander of the U.S. National Support Element Command-Afghanistan.

Gen. Joseph F. Dunford, Jr., current Commander of the International Security Assistance Force and U.S. Forces Afghanistan (USFOR-A), who presided over the change of command, called Richardson "a warrior with the right blend of experience for the job,” adding, “I know you will perform magnificently.”

Richardson will oversee all U.S. Forces throughout Afghanistan and posture the force for the future.
