President Karzai awards Ghazi Mir Masjidi Khan High Medal to Turkish Educational Foundation chairman
Through its 16 schools it has graduated 2903 students from the 12th grade most of whom are currently pursuing their education at the higher educational institutions.
President Hamid Karzai awarded yesterday the chairman of the Turkish Educational Foundation the High Sate Medal of Ghazi Mir Masjidi Khan for appreciation of his remarkable services.
At the ceremony held at the presidential palace, while Education Minister Farouq Wardak was present, the Afghan-Turk Educational foundation chairman Numan Urdughan was presented with the High State Medal of Ghazi Mir Masjidi Khan and president Karzai thanked for the foundation’s outstanding service for Afghanistan.
President Karzai expressed the hope for further successes of the Afghan-Turk educational foundation in education of the Afghan youth and asked the chairman of the foundation to facilitate opening of girls schools in Afghanistan.
Numan Urdughan informed the president about the activities of the foundation and said that presently 27 educational schools are active in which around 6000 students are pursuing education and they are taught by 444 teachers.
He added that out of these there are three girls schools and we plan to increase this number.
Urdughan presented to president Karzai a handicraft of the Usmani era. The agreement for the Afghan-Turk foundation was concluded with the Ministry of Education in 1995 and since then it is continuing its services in Afghanistan as a non-governmental foundation.
So far, through its 16 schools it has graduated 2903 students from the 12th grade most of whom are currently pursuing their education at the higher educational institutions.
This foundation has also facilitated the participation of its students at the international completions as well.
The students of this foundation were able to win 51 gold, 73 silver and 88 bronze medals making a total of 212 medals of which 75 have been won during the current year and this is the greatest achievement in the educational sector of the country.(BNA)
