Senior Al Qaeda leader killed in drone strike in Pakistan

Al-Hussainan was having breakfast when a missile fired from a drone targeted him in a Pakistani tribal region.

Senior Al Qaeda leader and a formerly probable successor to Ayman al-Zawahiri, Sheikh Khalid Bin Abdul Rehman Al-Hussainan, died in a US drone attack in Pakistan on Friday.

Al-Hussainan was having breakfast when a missile fired from a drone targeted him in a Pakistani tribal region, NBC News reported.

The senior militant leader’s death was announced on militant websites and was later confirmed by US officials.

NBC News further said Al-Hussainan had been seen in numerous Al Qaeda videos offering religious training to the group’s operatives. The videos were circulated by Al Qaeda’s media wing Al Shabab.
