Ukraine wants a greater presence in the post-Soviet countries to facilitate development of bilateral ties and trade.

Ukraine plans to soon open an embassy in Dushanbe, the Tajikistan capital, Foreign Minister Kostiantyn Hryschenko said Tuesday.

"We are expanding our diplomatic presence in the former Soviet Union and finally entering the last country of the CIS (Commonwealth of Independent States). We will open our diplomatic mission in Tajikistan," Hryschenko said.

Ukraine wants a greater presence in the post-Soviet countries to facilitate development of bilateral ties and trade, Hryschenko said.

The minister did not give the exact date that the diplomatic mission would open in Dushanbe, but said that Ukraine is working on the details.

Tajikistan, which established diplomatic ties with Ukraine in 1992, opened its embassy in Kiev on Dec. 3.
