Current efforts to resolve Afghan refugees problems not enough

The Refugees and Repatriation Minister said with the financial and technical support of UNHCR will implement a new programme.

The First Vice President, Marshal Mohammad Qasim Fahim, in a meeting with a number of Cabinet members, called the current efforts for resolving problems of the Afghan refugees as not enough and emphasized on urgent effort to resolve the problems of the Afghan refugees and IDPs. The Refugees and Repatriation Minister said with the financial and technical support of UNHCR will implement a new programme Tolo TV reported.
Some six million refugees returned to their country from 2002 so far. The programme is aimed at UNHCR support for the Afghan refugees in Iran and Pakistan and to work with the Afghan Government for the voluntary return of these refugees, a UNHCR official said.
