Air strike kills Taliban commander in Paktika

A Taliban commander was killed as NATO-led troops carried out air attack against Taliban militants in Paktika province in east of Afghanistan on Friday, a statement of the alliance released here on Saturday said.

"Coalition forces conducted a precision air strike in Paktika province Friday,  a Taliban sub-commander," the statement added.

The detained Taliban commander, according to the statement had been involved in organizing indirect fire and improvised explosive device attacks was arrested from a remote area southeast of the village of Nazar Mohammad Kala in Yahya Khel district.

Taliban militants fighting Afghan and NATO-led troops have yet to make comment.
