Taliban attack leaves 2 police dead, 2 wounded in Samangan

Azizullah Rahman, the deputy of provincial police chief, told reporters that a group of anti-government militants Wednesday night raided one police post in the outskirts of Hibak, capital of Samangan province, killing two police and injured two others.
This is the first time that such attack happened in the relatively peaceful Samangan province over the past weeks.
Moreover, Taliban purported spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid in talks with media through cell phone from undisclosed location claimed that four police were killed in the raid.
A massive offensive, involving nearly 5,000 Afghan troops and U.S. Marines, has been going on in the restive Helmand province since July 2 and so far 27 Taliban insurgents, according officials, have been killed.
